ABSTRACT

THE IMAGE AS A DOCUMENTARY SOURCE: ANALYSIS OF THE TEXTILE COMPANY ADVERTISING ANNAN DE PERGAMINO (1950 -1980). The image used to have and stil has, in different historical moments and cultural contexts, uses and purposes that respond to different needs of man, but always the visual representation is inherent in the ability to communicate and disseminate a specific message Once accomplished the function for which it was created, these images become source documents registered within the concept of representation: an image present and absent object, one that is worth because the other it is homologous.

            Under the research project named "Case Study Annan parchment, a textile factory as a transformative element of context" were collected different pieces of graphic communication published between 1950 and 1980 whose analysis allowed us to establish relationships between them and the sociocultural context from which they originated.

            Thus, this paper presents the analysis of syntactic, pragmatic and semantic communication as a historical reading of these visual signs, as carriers of meaning sources contributing to the interpretation of the discourse of brand identity, of the stylistic similarities with existing graphics, and the positioning of the company Annan in context, in order to help develop a theoretical framework to deepen the studies on the history of fashion design and textile industry in our country.
