ABSTRACT

THE ACTORS´S RESPONSIBILITY IN THE CONFLICT´S MEDIA COVERAGE: A STUDY CASE FROM THE ARGENTINIAN REALITY. The objective of this paper is to analyze the media coverage made “by Clarín, the most important agentinian newspaper, about the called “rural conflict”. It took place from March to July 2008 between the Argentine government of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and the agricultural sector. The specific objectives aim to know: 1) treatment that was news of the various actors involved in this case; 2) the level of responsibility that fell on them and 2) whether such attribution of responsibility was predominantly individual or institutional. To observe these aspects, we conducted a study design based on content analysis. Results show that the individual attribution (49%) outnumbers the institutional attribution (39%) and the mixed attribution (11.7%). This situation demostrate that the espectacularización and descontextualización of the news were present in the coverage.
