ABSTRACT

BODY, GENDER AND SEXUALITY IN STUDY ABROAD AMERICAN STUDENTS EXPERIENCE IN BUENOS AIRES. This article analyzes the implications of bodies, gender and sexualities in international education and the challenges presented by the translation of certain meanings and practices in this field. We explore the beliefs, opinions, reviews and experiences of American college students who participated in a program of international education between 2008 and 2013 spring. We wonder about the information and training they receive while still in the United States and how they live the regulations and practices of gender and sexuality once arrived to Buenos Aires. From the analysis of interviews and written testimonies of the students, and publications and websites of U.S. universities and companies that organize these programs, we intend to contribute to current research on international education and intercultural education, highlighting the contributions of gender and feminist studies.
